Ruby Bay OlivesWe have dedicated 11 years to establishing a commercial Olive Grove on the ancient sand dunes at Ruby Bay, on the shores of Tasman Sea in Nelson, New Zealand. Ruby Bay Olives is 10 acres of Tuscan Cultivar Olive Trees, Frantoio, Leccino and Pendolino, chosen for the flavour when pressed for Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our principles of "tread lightly on this planet and leave it in better condition that when you arrived", are the driving force behind the work we do at Ruby Bay Olives. We like to buy local and keep our footprint small. We are hands on farmers, making the most from what we can glean from a world ready to throw away it's used matter. Olive and grape pressings, along with spent barley from a local organic brewery,Founders Brewery, are composted and returned to our trees to enhance soil nutrition and humus levels We aim to bring an reasonably priced, exquisitly tasting, local, Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the Nelson Market. |
